Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has formed a seven-member Transition Ad Hoc Committee to oversee the smooth transition to the new office.
The committee will be led by FKF Vice President Macdonald Mariga, with FKF Women’s Representative Kerubo Momanyi appointed as the deputy chairperson.
“Following discussions by the National Executive Council (NEC) in December, the committee has been given the responsibility of establishing strong governance structures and ensuring a seamless transition for the federation,” FKF stated in a press release.
The committee’s secretary will be Upper Rift FKF Branch NEC Member Bernard Lagat. Other members include Eastern NEC Member Charles Njoka Njagi, Central NEC Member Robert Macharia, North Eastern NEC Member Ahmedqadar Mohammed Dabar, and Lower Rift NEC Member Peter “Kass Kass” Kamau.
In addition to overseeing the transition, the committee will also initiate a forensic audit of FKF’s internal processes and policies to ensure operational continuity and enhance the organization’s capacity.
“The primary mandate of the committee is to ensure that FKF’s essential functions, systems, and processes are maintained throughout the transition, preventing any disruptions. The committee is also tasked with upholding FKF’s transparency, credibility, and commitment to its mandate during the handover, and equipping the newly elected National Executive Committee with the knowledge and tools needed to manage the federation effectively,” the statement added.
The committee will also work to strengthen FKF’s administrative, technical, and strategic capabilities to ensure sustainable growth and long-term success, while conducting a thorough audit of finances and human resources to improve accountability and transparency.
FKF President Hussein Mohammed was elected during the national elections held on December 7, marking the end of Nick Mwendwa’s eight-year tenure.
