Kenya and Egypt are looks at new cooperation between two countries to ramp up their bilateral tourism partnership.
Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano had a consultative meeting with the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt Hatem Yousri Hosnito to explore ways of developing a transformative Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in tourism between two nations. This partnership is a gamechanger for our hospitality sector.
They aim to combine Egypts well, known expertise in cultural heritage tourism with Kenyas recognized achievement in wildlife conservation and safari tourism.
The cooperation is also expected to complement Kenyas hospitality industry through skills development, as the Egyptian model of hospitality training has been identified as a key area of focus.
Furthermore, the talks reveal that the partnership extends beyond the mere training to include an exchange of innovative ideas and best practices. Kenya is interested in Egypt’s cultural and historical tourism, which is a great success story, whereas Egypt is keen to learn from Kenya’s outstanding conservation and nature, based tourism.
From some of the key officials, the project is expected to broaden Kenya’s tourism portfolio, bring in more foreign tourists, and raise Kenya’s profile among the top global tourist destinations.
According to Miano, more tourists will boost local businesses, increase the overall national income, and thus create more job opportunities for the Kenyan population.
“Beyond training, we seek to establish a platform of exchanging innovative ideas, learning from Egypt’s success in cultural tourism and sharing our expertise in safari and conservation, we aim to diversify Kenya’s tourism portfolio and attract more global visitors.” said Miano
