More than 50 local and international teams have confirmed their participation in the 2026 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally set to take place in Naivasha, Nakuru County next month.
The event will take place from March 12th to 15th and the rally is covering a total competitive distance of 350km.
While flagging off the participants in Nairobi, Sports Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi said the route is anything but easy.
“The tough stages of Soysambu, Sleeping Warrior and Elementaita as well as Sunday’s final showstopper at Hell’s Gate on March15 promises to generate fireworks to remember” Mwangi said.
Adding; “It’s the season of sheer blazing energy; the deafening noise; the heart-stopping revs; the vibes; the thrill and fee of growling engines tuned for optimum performance!”.
The PS was joined by Top Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Group officials led by the Chief Executive Officer Paul Russo as well senior Safari Rally Kenya team led by Chief Executive Officer Charles Gacheru.
“Through sponsoring the event and a team of five drivers and their navigators, KCB has demonstrated the power and beauty of collaboration towards support the growth of sports in Kenya” the PS said.
He noted that the government is committed to support the development of motorsport in Kenya and aim to through collaboration with stakeholders.
“We aim to bring back the glory of Kenya National Rally Championship” Mwangi said.
