Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused Mt Kenya leaders allied to President William Ruto of being used to sabotage his public appearances.

Speaking at AIPCA Gatumbi Church in Lari, Kiambu County, Gachagua claimed the MPs are being paid to fund youth-led disruptions, including stoning his motorcade.

He condemned the alleged betrayal, saying the same youths are being paid to cause chaos while others from the President’s region secure government jobs. “How foolish can our leaders be?” he posed.

Gachagua also demanded a public apology from President Ruto to the families of victims of the 2007/08 Kiambaa Church tragedy and justice for Gen Z protesters allegedly killed or abducted. He dismissed Ruto’s apology as casual and called for direct engagement with affected families.

Vowing to rally against Mt Kenya leaders he accuses of betrayal, Gachagua warned they would face rejection in the 2027 polls.
