Liverpool have agreed a British record transfer fee of £125 million to sign striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.

The Swedish international is expected to undergo a medical on Monday before signing a six-year contract at Anfield.

Liverpool had an initial £110 million bid rejected in August but have now secured their top transfer target of the summer.

Isak’s arrival would surpass the club’s previous transfer record, set earlier this summer with the signing of German attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz in a deal worth an initial £100 million, plus £16 million in potential add-ons.

Including Isak, Liverpool’s total summer spending would rise to approximately £416 million, excluding any performance-related bonuses.

Other arrivals this window include Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi, and Giovanni Leoni.

Isak, who joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad for £60 million in 2022, enjoyed a standout season last year, scoring 27 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions.

He played a key role in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup triumph in March, scoring in the final against Liverpool, and helped the club secure Champions League qualification with a fifth-place Premier League finish.
