Mambo Mbotela, known for his legendary show Je Huu Ni Ungwana, passed away on Friday, 7th February 2025, at approximately 9:30 AM. His death was confirmed by his daughter-in-law, Anne Mbotela. Fred Machokaa, a close friend and fellow broadcasting icon, has publicly expressed his deep disappointment with the decision to bury Mambo Mbotela at Lang’ata Cemetery. In a passionate post on his Facebook page, Machokaa criticized the choice, calling it disrespectful to Mbotela’s legacy. “Today I am angry. Very, very angry! To inter the remains of Legend Mambo Mbotela at Lang’ata Cemetery is wrong. Mr. President, umeskia? This country needs a Heroes Corner for the burial of our Mashujaa if we truly value them,” Machokaa wrote, visibly upset by the decision.
