Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has called on the Maa community to support the broad-based government, citing it as an opportunity to address long-standing marginalization and unlock new prospects for the community.

Speaking in Kajiado during an economic empowerment program, Ole Kina emphasized the need for unity among the Maa people to strengthen their bargaining power in national politics.

The event, held in Eiti village, Sajiloni, Kajiado County, was marked as a potential turning point for the politics of the Maa community, which spans Kajiado, Narok, Baringo, Samburu, Laikipia, and Marsabit counties. Ole Kina announced plans to extend his unity meetings across these regions to consolidate the community’s political influence.

However, the meeting was initially disrupted when Kajiado Senator Lenku Seki and Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, who reportedly opposed Ole Kina’s initiative, attempted to forcefully access the venue. A brief commotion ensued before order was restored, after which Ole Kina strongly criticized the two leaders for engaging in what he termed as “Kingpinship politics” instead of prioritizing the community’s development.

In his address, Ole Kina urged the Maa people to embrace the broad-based government’s renewed push for inclusion, stating that the community stands to benefit from national opportunities if they remain united.

Notably, the senator led the attendees in endorsing State House Comptroller Katoo Ole Metito for the Kajiado gubernatorial race in 2027, signaling a strategic political alignment.

Apart from political discussions, the meeting also focused on economic empowerment. He launched an initiative to support struggling families by distributing pedigree bulls and goats, reinforcing his commitment to the economic well-being of the Maa community.
