President William Ruto on Thursday visited Nyandarua and Murang’a counties, where he launched and inspected various development projects.

In Kangema, Murang’a County, he reiterated his commitment to ensuring students from underprivileged backgrounds receive the necessary financial support.Beyond education, the president also addressed key agricultural concerns, assuring tea, coffee, and dairy farmers that his government is committed to securing fair prices for their produce.His tour included an assessment of several major infrastructural projects.

In Nyandarua County, he evaluated the ongoing construction of the 142-bed capacity J.M. Kariuki Memorial County Referral Hospital, flagged off the Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Project at Jua Kali Stage in Ol Kalou Town, inspected the Ol Kalou Affordable Housing project, and laid the foundation stone for the Engineer Modern Market.

Murang’a County, the head of state inspected Karugia Market, Kaihi and Maragua Ridge Irrigation projects, and laid the foundation stone for the Makuyu Affordable Housing project.The president emphasized his administration’s commitment to expanding irrigation infrastructure to boost food security and improve farmers’ incomes.

President Ruto inspected the ongoing construction of the Kaihi Irrigation Project, which spans 1,600 acres and is expected to generate KSh720 million in annual output while creating up to 6,000 jobs.

Additionally, he inspected the Karugia Modern Market, a KSh55 million investment set for completion within two months.In Maragua, President Ruto commissioned the KSh1 billion Maragua Ridge Irrigation Development Project. With a water storage capacity of 860,000 cubic meters, the project will support irrigation on 800 acres and create over 12,000 jobs.

The initiative aligns with the government’s broader strategy to enhance agricultural productivity and rural employment opportunities.The visit also carried political undertones, with discussions on the 2027 general elections surfacing during his engagements with local leaders and residents. The president reaffirmed his administration’s focus on economic transformation and grassroots development as a key pillar of his governance strategy.
