Former presidential advisor Moses Kuria has sparked fresh debate in Nairobi’s 2027 gubernatorial politics after hinting at a possible cross-party ticket with Makadara MP George Aladwa of the ODM party.
In a post shared on social media, Kuria published a campaign-style graphic featuring himself and Aladwa, branded with bold messages such as “Kuria Aladwa, the Nairobi Dream Team” and “Make Nairobi Work Again (Manawa).” Additional captions explicitly labelled Kuria as the gubernatorial candidate and Aladwa as his preferred deputy.
Kuria, who has already declared interest in the Nairobi governor seat, said the partnership he is proposing is not based on tribe or party loyalty but on shared values and a joint commitment to fixing the capital.
“Not because of our tribes. Not because of our parties. Because we care for Nairobi. Because we understand what Nairobians are going through,” he wrote.
He added that their combined experience and networks—local, regional, and international—position them well to address the challenges facing the city.
“Because we have many years of combined leadership and managerial experience… Because we are not tribal. Because we have what it takes to make Nairobi work again,” he stated.
Kuria’s latest messaging comes weeks after he announced his intention to run for Nairobi governor, a decision he said was inspired by President William Ruto’s blunt remarks on the deteriorating state of the city. The President recently cited governance failures, broken service delivery systems, and financial mismanagement at City Hall.
Kuria said he shares similar concerns, noting that the same sentiments have been echoed to him by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
“Dear President William Ruto, today you spoke to my heart. Like Prime Minister Baba Raila Odinga has told me countless times, Nairobi cannot continue to be the city of filth, garbage and incompetence,” he posted on X.
“That is why I will offer myself to be the Governor of the great County of Nairobi in 2027. I will fix Nairobi.”
