The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has reopened its student portal, offering another chance for aspiring medics to apply for 28 unfilled courses at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) ahead of the September 2025 intake.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, July 23, it gives prospective students just six days to submit their applications before the portal closes once again.
“Attention future health heroes! The KUCCPS Portal is now open for KMTC Course Applications! Your journey to becoming a healthcare professional starts here,” the notice read an impassioned call aimed at young Kenyans dreaming of joining the health sector.
The reopened application window follows the closure of the initial intake process on July 7, during which hundreds of hopefuls applied for KMTC programs. However, 28 programs across various certificate and diploma levels still had space.
Among the nine certificate-level courses open for application are:
Medical Engineering
Orthopaedic Trauma Medicine
Health Insurance Management
Health Records and Information Technology
Community Health Assistant
Public Health
Nutrition and Dietetics
Medical Emergency Technician
Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nursing
The 19 diploma programs include popular and critical areas such as:
Radiography and Imaging
Medical Laboratory Sciences
Community Oral Health
Occupational Therapy
Optometry
Health Counselling
And several diploma equivalents of the remaining certificate courses
With healthcare professionals in ever-increasing demand, this reopening provides an important opportunity for students who may have missed the initial deadline or want to adjust their course preferences.
Just last week, KUCCPS released placement results for the initial KMTC applications. Applicants were urged to check their admission status by logging into the KUCCPS student portal using their KCSE index number, exam year, and password typically their KCPE index number or birth certificate number.
A Lifeline for Aspiring Health Workers
For many young Kenyans, a spot at KMTC means more than just education it’s a gateway to a life of service and stability. In rural areas especially, KMTC graduates often become the first and sometimes only medical professionals serving their communities.
The portal can be accessible at students.kuccps.net, where candidates can view available courses, eligibility requirements, and submit their applications before time runs out.
