The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has issued a last call to taxpayers who haven’t filed their Income Tax Returns for 2025 to do so without delay. It also warned that the statutory deadline of midnight, Tuesday 30th June 2026, wouldn’t be extended.

The agency pointed out that millions of taxpayers have already filed their returns and it’s encouraging those who are yet to do so to not procrastinate until the very last minute.

KRA warned that late filers won’t only be subject to penalties but in addition they could also be liable to default assessments as stipulated by the laws.

“A tax return isn’t just your legal commitment. It’s your part in contributing to the welfare of the nation. Filing a tax return is one step toward ensuring clarity, bettering the tax system and enabling the Government to fund the public services that are accessible to all of us, ” said KRA.

To make the filing process more convenient, KRA has made available various online platforms through which taxpayers can submit their returns. These include the iTax portal, eCitizen platform and USSD 2225#. KRA’s WhatsApp support line on 0711 099 999 is also accessible to taxpayers.

Furthermore, KRA has prolonged the working hours of the departments that serve customers, including Contact Centre, social media platforms, Huduma Centres, KRA Service Centres, and Ushuru Mashinani Service Partners, to facilitate taxpayers in clearing filing problems before the deadline.

To ease the filing process, the Authority has provided several digital platforms through which taxpayers can submit their returns, including the iTax portal, eCitizen platform, and USSD service 2225#. Taxpayers can also access assistance through KRA’s WhatsApp support line on 0711 099 999.
