The Kenya Medical Training College has said that more of its physiotherapy graduates are finding job opportunities in Germany as demand for the profession continues to grow.
In an interview on Tuesday, the KMTC CEO Kelly Oluoch explained that most of the recent placements have been for physiotherapy graduates under the recruitment programme supported by the African Business Community.
To date, over 84 graduates have successfully found employment in Germany under the ongoing placement cycle.
Oluoch explained that graduates of KMTC are performing better than those from other local universities competing for the same opportunities.
Currently, a new cohort of about 159 graduates of physiotherapy is undergoing preparation for the placement exercise in Germany.
“We have seen a lot of success thus far and we are preparing another batch of graduates for placement,” said Oluoch.
Traditionally, KMTC graduates have secured placements in various countries such as UK, Australia, and the US; however, the latest move has shifted focus to Germany.
The recruitment program by the African Business Community, it aims to help prepare students to meet international standards before leaving the country.
The selected individuals receive further training, including training on how to speak German, which makes their adjustment and working easy upon arrival.
Germany has become such an appealing destination largely due to its aging population and the rise of the need for the rehabilitation sector.
It should be added that globally there is a lack of professionals in the field, thus providing additional opportunities for graduates from Kenya.
