Students who were admitted to the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) during the March 2026 intake but failed to report have now been given another opportunity to join the college.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, KMTC announced that it has opened a deferment window for students who were unable to begin their studies in March for different reasons.
The college said affected students can now defer their admission and join the September 2026 intake instead.
“Missed the March 2026 intake? Don’t worry. KMTC has officially opened deferment to the September 2026 intake for students who were unable to join the March class,” the notice read in part.
This implies that the students will commence their studies in September along with a fresh batch of learners who are supposed to join the college during the intake period.
KMTC stated that the initiative was meant to offer the learners another chance to enroll in their preferred courses in the institution rather than being denied any opportunity.
This process will involve logging into the college admission portal and choosing the “deferment” option among others.
The institution requested all those who wish to defer their studies in the institution to log into the portal and select the aforementioned option and then fill out the necessary information before submitting their requests.
As per KMTC, once an application for deferring admission is submitted, it will stay on the same status of “submitted” until the admission office goes through it.
The application for deferment will either be approved or rejected based on its status in the portal, and a text notification will be issued to the student on its final outcome.
It should be noted that just a few days ago, KMTC closed off an emergency placement window that it had established using KUCCPS in order to place more learners into the institution.
