Health facilities across Kenya will now be registered through a new online platform, marking the end of the paper-based application era in a transformative move by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).

The council on Tuesday unveiled the digital system aimed at streamlining the registration process by allowing applicants to submit all necessary information electronically.

Details such as facility name, location, classification, services offered, staffing, and certified documents can now be uploaded through the portal.

KMPDC CEO David Kariuki described the platform as a major step forward in improving efficiency, transparency, and service delivery.

“We wanted a system that is fast, accurate, and easy to use. This new platform delivers that. It is designed to guide the applicant, verify the data, and make the process clear at every stage,” he said.

More than just a convenience tool, the system incorporates intelligent checks that detect errors, validate submitted data, and ensure only complete and truthful applications proceed.

Once an application is submitted, it triggers an inspection by KMPDC officers, after which the council commits to processing the application within 21 working days.

Applicants will receive email notifications at each stage of the process and can access their application status at any time via the portal.

Kariuki emphasized that the system also strengthens internal workflows at the council through automated alerts and approvals, ensuring faster service.

He assured applicants of robust data protection measures in line with the Data Protection Act, noting that all submissions are encrypted and access is tightly restricted.

“This shift is not just about digitizing the process, but about building trust,” he said. “By going digital, we’re making the registration process more transparent, efficient, and reliable.”
