In a significant boost to youth and women empowerment, Kitui County Woman Representative Hon. Irene Kasalu, in collaboration with Mwingi West MP Hon. Charles Ngusya Nguna, has distributed cheques worth over Ksh. 5 million to 33 youth and women groups in Migwani, Mwingi West.

The funds, drawn from the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) and the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), are aimed at fostering economic growth, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance among the beneficiaries.

The event, held in Migwani, saw hundreds of residents gather to witness the issuance of cheques to the selected groups.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Kasalu reaffirmed her commitment to uplifting marginalized groups through financial support and training programs.

She emphasized the importance of empowering women and youth as a means of driving sustainable development in Kitui County.

“My goal is to ensure that women and young people in our county have access to resources that enable them to start or expand their businesses. These funds will go a long way in improving livelihoods and creating employment opportunities,” she stated.

Hon. Charles Nguna echoed her sentiments, lauding the initiative as a crucial step in eradicating poverty and fostering economic growth in Mwingi West.

He urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds effectively and engage in income-generating activities that would have a lasting impact on their communities.

“This is a golden opportunity for these groups to invest in viable projects. We want to see our youth and women become financially independent and contribute positively to the development of our constituency,” Hon. Nguna remarked.

Several beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, highlighting how the financial boost would enable them to expand their businesses, start new ventures, and improve their economic stability.

Leaders present at the event reiterated their dedication to ensuring transparency and accountability in the utilization of public funds to drive economic transformation at the grassroots level.
