Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has inspected ongoing construction works on the Mbanda–Nyamokomba–Ng’enyi Road in Nyambusi, Kitutu Chache North Constituency, Kisii County, describing it as part of a broader effort to revive stalled infrastructure projects across the country.

The road forms part of an extensive 79-kilometre road network being developed in the constituency at a cost of Sh4.4 billion, aimed at improving regional connectivity and boosting economic activity.

“The Mbanda- Nyamokomba- Ng’enyi Road is part of an extensive, 79 kilometer road network under construction in Kitutu Chache North Constituency, Kisii County, at a cost of 4.4 billion shillings,”he said in a statement on Monday.

Kindiki said road construction has resumed nationwide following the government’s clearance of Sh177 billion in pending bills that had previously forced contractors to abandon projects since 2020.

He added that approximately 6,000 kilometres of stalled roads across Kenya are now back under construction, alongside new projects intended to strengthen transport networks and stimulate local economies.

Once completed, the Mbanda–Nyamokomba–Ng’enyi Road is expected to ease movement of people and goods, with a direct impact on farmers, traders, and residents who rely on improved infrastructure to access markets and essential services.

The Deputy President was accompanied by Kitutu Chache North MP Japheth Nyakundi, Nyaribari Chache MP Dr Daniel Manduku, Kisii Woman Representative Dorice Donya, Nominated Senator Elsie Okenyuri, as well as Members of County Assembly and local residents.
