Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has hailed President William Ruto’s directive to ease the process of acquiring national identity cards and other essential documents for residents of Wajir County and Northern Kenya, terming it a historic move towards national unity and inclusivity.

Speaking on the state of development in the region, Kindiki lamented that Northern Kenya has been lagging behind due to poor infrastructure, inadequate electricity supply, and a lack of accessible government services.

He emphasized that these challenges have hindered the vision of a united and prosperous nation for far too long.

“Our vision and destiny as a united and prosperous nation has been delayed for a long time. Wajir County and Northern Kenya have suffered due to bad roads, poor infrastructure, and inadequate electricity connection, making access to government services difficult,” Kindiki stated.

The Deputy President asserted that removing bureaucratic obstacles to obtaining identification documents would empower the region’s residents, ensuring they fully participate in national development.

He criticized those who have opposed such reforms, stating that they lack a meaningful agenda for the country’s progress.

“Those delaying the vision of a united and prosperous country do not have any agenda for our nation,” he remarked.

Kindiki further expressed gratitude to President Ruto for his commitment to unifying the country and ensuring that all Kenyans, regardless of their region, have equal access to government services.

“Thank you, President William Samoei Ruto, for uniting our country,” he concluded.
