Kiharu MP Treats Top-Performing Headteachers to Five-Day Holiday in Dubai

Five primary school headteachers from Kiharu Constituency are spending this week in Dubai, courtesy of a fully funded reward program by their area Member of Parliament, Ndindi Nyoro.

Nyoro announced the trip on December 3, 2025, through a post on his social media pages, revealing that the teachers were the latest beneficiaries of his annual motivation package an initiative designed to celebrate outstanding academic improvement and exceptional school performance.

The MP’s program recognizes educators in several categories, including best-performing subjects, most improved subjects, best overall school, and the school that records the greatest improvement. Headteachers who top the charts win a holiday trip to Dubai, while those who have previously visited the city are flown to Malaysia for their award tour.

“Headteachers for the best school and most improved school get a trip to Dubai. Those who have been there before travel to Malaysia. The same applies to Day Secondary Schools,” Nyoro noted in his statement.
Five Nights of Exploration and Leisure

The selected headteachers drawn from Ngaru Primary School, Githagara Primary School, Technology Primary School, Maragi Primary School, and Githuguya Primary School are enjoying a five-night all-expenses-paid stay. Their itinerary includes a Half-Day Dubai City Tour, a Marina Dhow Cruise Dinner, and live entertainment.

They will also visit the iconic Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, before heading out for a desert safari capped with a BBQ dinner under the stars experiences many of them are undertaking for the first time.
Human Impact Behind the Initiative

For the educators, the trip is more than a holiday; it’s a moment of recognition in a profession often associated with long hours and limited appreciation. One headteacher (not quoted directly here), speaking informally through colleagues, described the opportunity as “a breath of fresh air” and “a reminder that the work we pour into our children is seen.”

Nyoro emphasized that the incentive is meant to motivate teachers and elevate academic standards across the constituency. “We want to encourage excellence and support those who go the extra mile for our learners,” he said.

This is not the first time the MP has sponsored educators for international trips. In April, he facilitated a similar program that saw 11 day-school principals visit Dubai and Malaysia for a benchmarking and learning tour.

As the current group enjoys their time abroad, the gesture has sparked conversation at home many praising the MP’s efforts to make teachers feel valued, while others hope such incentives can be replicated across the country to uplift education standards nationally.
