Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has mourned the death of veteran clinician and politician George Ikolomani, whom he credited with helping shape his political journey in Ikolomani Constituency.
In a statement shared on X, Khalwale described Ikolomani as a “towering Abakakamega clinician cum politician” and revealed that he, together with the late Mzee Mikaili Muhandichi, helped introduce him into Ikolomani politics.
Khalwale said Ikolomani later served for many years as a member of his Constituency Development Board, where he played a role in local development matters.
The senator also described the deceased as one of his advisers on Luhya culture, highlighting his influence beyond politics.
“Mzee George Ikolomani is dead!” Khalwale said in announcing the death.
“A towering Abakakamega clinician cum politician who together with the late Mzee Mikaili Muhandichi successfully midwifed me into Ikolomani Constituency politics,” he added.
Khalwale said the death was a major loss to his family and the wider Ikolomani community.
He extended his condolences to Ikolomani’s family, singling out his daughter, Teacher Maureen Ikolomani, whom he described as her father’s “apple of his eye.”
“My heartfelt condolences to all his family members especially Teacher Maureen Ikolomani, his daughter and apple of his eye,” Khalwale said.
The senator concluded his message by asking for God’s comfort for the bereaved family as they mourned the veteran clinician and community figure.
Khalwale’s political career has deep roots in Ikolomani. He previously represented the constituency in Parliament, having been elected as its MP in the 2007 General Election.
The death of Ikolomani comes months after Khalwale himself suffered a major personal loss following the death of his wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, in August 2026.
