President William Ruto continued his four-day tour of Nyanza on Monday, September 14, with a visit to Kisumu County where he launched the Lake Victoria Water and Sanitation Project.

The president also addressed residents in Nyamasaria, where he defended his administration’s affordable housing programme and outlined several projects earmarked for Kisumu.

Ruto said the county had been allocated Sh44 billion for the construction of 12,000 affordable housing units, 20 markets and 12,000 hostel beds.

He maintained that his administration would continue investing in development projects across Nyanza, assuring residents that the region would receive its share of government programmes and infrastructure projects.

“We will continue implementing development projects in this region. Nyanza will not be left behind,” Ruto said.

The president’s Kisumu engagements formed part of his wider four-day development tour of Nyanza, which will also take him to Siaya, Migori and Homa Bay counties.

During the tour, Ruto is expected to inspect and launch various projects targeting roads, markets, water and sanitation, housing and other public infrastructure.

The visit comes as the government seeks to accelerate development programmes across the region, with the president highlighting ongoing and planned investments as part of his administration’s broader development agenda.
