Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale today hosted British High Commissioner H.E. Neil Wigan at Afya House, reinforcing the longstanding partnership between Kenya and the United Kingdom in addressing the country’s evolving health priorities.
Their discussions centered on pressing health challenges including emerging infectious diseases, rising cases of non-communicable illnesses, and regional disparities in maternal and child health.
Both leaders emphasized the need for joint innovation and international cooperation to tackle these issues.
The meeting also explored expanded collaboration under Kenya’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) goals, aligned with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
Key focus areas include health workforce development, systems strengthening, disease surveillance, research, and diaspora engagement.
CS Duale acknowledged the UK’s continued support, noting that enhanced cooperation would help improve access to essential health commodities, strengthen financial risk protection, and accelerate the use of digital health technologies.
Also in attendance was the Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Ms. Mary Muthoni.
