Kenya is set to host the 11th World Scout Parliamentary Union (WSPU) General Assembly from Monday, November 10 to Thursday, November 13, 2025.
The global event, which brings together scout-oriented parliamentarians from across the world, aims to strengthen national scout organizations and the global scouting movement through the influence and participation of legislators who believe in scouting as a key educational and leadership-building platform.
According to Dagoretti South MP Hon. John Kiarie (KJ), who serves as the WSPU Kenya President, this year’s assembly — themed “Parliamentary Scouts in SDGs, Creative Economy, and Climate Action” — will provide a valuable platform for learning, exchange, and networking among youth and leaders.
“We are proud to host the General Assembly for the very first time in Kenya, a country with one of the highest youth populations. Topics such as Artificial Intelligence, ICT, leadership, and governance will be explored, making it a great learning opportunity,” Hon. Kiarie said.
Funyula MP Hon. Wilberforce Oundo, who chairs the 11th WSPU GA Host Committee, noted in a statement delivered to Parliament on Thursday, November 6, that the assembly will offer parliamentarians and scout leaders a forum to discuss youth policy and the development of the Scout Movement.
“During the 10th WSPU General Assembly held in Jeonju, South Korea, in 2022, Kenya successfully bid for and won the privilege to host the 11th edition in 2025,” Hon. Oundo stated.
He added that hosting the forum provides Kenya with a unique opportunity to showcase its leadership in youth development, international cooperation, and parliamentary engagement in promoting the values of scouting — including discipline, service, and integrity.
Hon. Oundo further urged Members of Parliament and County Assemblies to actively participate in the assembly, emphasizing that engagement with the youth is vital for national peace and stability.
“The perceived disconnect between political leaders and the youth must be bridged for the tranquility and unity of our nation,” he said.
