Kenya police have confirmed at least seven people, including three minors drowned in separate incidents across the country.
In Emasatsi village, Kakamega County, tragedy struck a family in after two siblings, aged three and four years, drowned in a home water reservoir while playing. The reservoir was dug to collect water to make bricks for commercial purposes. According to police, the incident occurred May 16.
Elsewhere, in Marani, Kisii County, police reported another minor aged one year and seven months drowned in a basin full of water in in a mysterious way. It is reported the little girl was left under care of her grandmother while the she attended to other household chores.
In Nairobi, Siaya, Homa Bay and Kericho counties have reported same incident. The bodies were moved to separate mortuaries as the families were left devastated. Police indicate more than 200 people have drowned in the past month and recent, while other incident attributed to flooding.
