Kenya Power has alerted Kenyans to be cautious against false job advertisements circulating on the web, where scam artists are abusing the name of the utility company to defraud unsuspecting victims.

The alert was given in the morning after a notice announcing that the utility firm was recruiting over 100 workers across different departments started circulating on the web.

Through its official social media accounts, Kenya Power flagged the advert as fake, urging people to exercise caution not to be a victim of the scam.

“Fake! Be wary of conmen!” the company warned in its statement.

This is not the first that the company has had to issue such a warning. Just last week, another false notice that stated the company was advertising recruitment had also been going viral on social media.

Though the two false adverts were different, both used the Kenya Power logo something that the company asserts is a sign of how desperate scammers are to appear legitimate.

Kenya Power reminded the Kenyans that all legitimate job vacancies are advertised exclusively on its official website and verified communication channels, not on random social media or forwarded messages.

The company has requested individuals to report suspicious ads immediately and not to pass them on.
