On Thursday, September 5, Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi committed to initiating urgent reforms at Kenya Power to enhance efficiency.
This was after a meeting with the board, management and the utility firm’s staff.
Wandayi insisted that the company is key in providing reliable and affordable energy, which is essential for economic growth.
“The government expects Kenya Power to enhance operational efficiency and improve service delivery,” said Wandayi.
He added that the reforms will focus on reducing technical and commercial losses from 24% to 19.5% within three years.
The CS instructed the board to prioritise customer service and operational reforms, saying that complaints must be addressed within the service charter timelines.
