The Minister for Defence of the Royal Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr. Ruben Brekelmans, visited the National Defence University – Kenya (NDU-K) in Lanet, Nakuru, for the official signing of a Letter of Intent aimed at strengthening cooperation between NDU-K and the Netherlands Defence Academy (NLDA).

During the signing, Mr. Brekelmans praised the Kenya Defence Forces and NDU-K for establishing a globally recognized institution dedicated to quality education and research.

He expressed confidence that the partnership would enhance national growth, climate security, and responses to emerging threats.

“With the increasing complexity of global security challenges, collaborative and coordinated efforts are essential to addressing these issues effectively,” he stated.

NDU-K Vice-Chancellor, Lieutenant General Jimson Mutai, underscored the importance of international partnerships in tackling modern security challenges.

He emphasized that collaboration with institutions like NLDA fosters mutual learning, research, and innovation in national security and strategy.

The ceremony provided a platform for sharing best practices and exploring research opportunities, reinforcing bilateral ties between Kenya and the Netherlands in defence education.
