Residents in Nairobi and several other parts of the country should prepare for more rain over the coming week, with some areas expected to experience thunderstorms while others will remain sunny.
The Kenya Meteorological Service says the rains will continue from Sunday, November 8, to Thursday, November 12, with at least 29 counties expected to receive rainfall.
In Nairobi, the forecast points to light showers in the afternoons throughout the five days. The same is expected in Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu and Nyandarua, where rain is likely in the mornings and afternoons.
The situation will be different in parts of Western Kenya, where heavier rainfall is expected. Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma and Busia are forecast to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms throughout the period.
Residents of Kisumu and Siaya should also expect afternoon showers, but not every day. Kenya Met has listed Monday, Wednesday and Thursday as the days when the two counties are likely to experience rain, thunderstorms and lightning. Mornings are expected to remain sunny.
Further south, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii and Nyamira are likely to receive moderate rainfall from Monday to Thursday, with thunderstorms and lightning also expected.
Other counties on the forecast include Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, Kitui, Machakos and Makueni in Eastern Kenya. In the Rift Valley, rain is expected in West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Nandi, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Baringo, Kericho and Bomet.
Not all parts of the country will experience wet weather. Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi and Lamu are expected to remain sunny and dry throughout the five days.
