The Men with Disabilities Society of Kenya has marked International Men’s Day 2024 by celebrating the contributions of men and boys with disabilities while addressing the challenges they face.
The theme, Positive Male Role Models, highlights the importance of everyday men who inspire through integrity and compassion, challenging stereotypes of masculinity.
The event called for recognizing men’s often-overlooked contributions as caregivers, leaders, and community builders.
“As Men with Disabilities Society of Kenya, we are proud to mark this day with a media briefing aimed at amplifying the voices of men with disabilities and adolescent boys with disabilities and their caregivers” They stated during press briefing.
It also emphasized the need to address men’s health and well-being, combat discrimination, and foster gender equality for a safer, more inclusive world.
The gathering served as a precursor to Kenya’s upcoming celebrations of 20 years of diversity and disability inclusion and World AIDS Day on December 1, which will focus on boys and men in HIV response.
Participants were invited to a World AIDS Day run to promote awareness and action.
