Forestry Principal Secretary Mr Gitonga Mugambi has reaffirmed the government of Kenya’s efforts to inclusivity in climate action. He hosted the Principal Secretary for Gender and Affirmative action, Anne Wangombe in a courtesy meeting to strengthen collaboration in the 15 billion trees initiative.
The meeting focused on ensuring that women , youth and PWDs and other marginalized groups are included in the 15 Billion tree initiative. Both parties highlighted the importance of social justice in climate action to driving impact.
The high level meeting happens shortly after Environment CS Dr. Deborah Mlongo Barasa held talks with Deutsche Welle. In their discussions, they discussed the increasing influence of social media in climate advocacy.
She appreciated the role played by women influencers in climate advocacy both locally and globally. Through these high level meetings it is evident that climate action is not enough if we exclude communities and groups in the fight against climate change
