Tanzanian singer and actress Marianne ‘Mimi Mars’ Mdee, best known for her hit “Till I Die,” has recently shared her thoughts on love, relationships, and the fact that she’s still not married at 32. The younger sister of former Bongo Flava star Vanessa Mdee, Mimi expressed regret for not yet tying the knot, admitting that part of the reason for her unmarried status lies in past relationships with men who weren’t serious about her.

In a candid interview with a Tanzanian entertainment outlet, Mimi opened up about the role she believes she played in delaying her journey to marriage. “I haven’t gotten married yet because I spent time with men who weren’t right for me. They wasted my time,” she revealed. “I’m an opportunist, and if I meet the right man, I won’t hesitate to settle down.”

This isn’t the first time Mimi has spoken about her love life. Back in 2019, she told Tanzanian media personality Millard Ayo that heartbreak had caused her to place strict boundaries on her dating choices. “I told myself I would never date a famous man or a Tanzanian man,” she said at the time. “But as time went on, I realized I might be open to a man from outside Tanzania.”

Despite her previous stance, Mimi began a relationship with rising Tanzanian artist Marioo in 2020. The couple’s romance seemed promising, but rumors of infidelity and drama began to surface. A viral video of Mimi swimming with Bongo Flava star Diamond Platnumz led to speculation that she was involved with him romantically. Mimi was quick to deny the rumors, but the situation strained her relationship with Marioo.

Marioo, in an emotional Instagram live session, confessed that he felt hurt by the video and the rumors surrounding it. “There’s a lot that hurt me, but that clip of my lady swimming with my brother really hurt me,” he said.

Despite the tension, the couple worked through their issues, even collaborating on a song together, “La La.” Unfortunately, the relationship ultimately ended, with new rumors suggesting that Jux, who had a well-known on-and-off romance with Mimi’s older sister Vanessa, was flirting with Mimi. However, Jux denied the claims, and Marioo later explained that their breakup wasn’t due to Jux but rather the natural complexities of relationships.

“We are all human, and mistakes happen,” Marioo said in an interview with Wasafi Media. “We grew apart over time, and sometimes things just don’t work out, no matter how much you try.”
