Ruma National Park in Homa Bay County is being elevated to a flagship status as part of efforts to diversify Kenya’s tourism offerings beyond the traditional beach and safari packages. Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano says the integration of wildlife and sports is emerging as a key driver of tourism, With Homa Bay standing out as a prime example where these elements converge. Ruma National Park is home to endangered species such as the Roan Antelope as well as the Rothschild’s giraffe, both black and white rhinos.The Ministry of Tourism says the move will not only boost conservation efforts but also spur economic growth in the region through job creation, infrastructure development, and increased local enterprise opportunities.
