Kenya has signed a landmark cooperation agreement with France aimed at expanding internet connectivity to households, public institutions and community digital hubs across the country under the Kenya Digital Transformation and Connectivity Enhancement Project.
ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo Gitau said the agreement marks a major milestone in the country’s push to strengthen digital infrastructure and accelerate access to online services for millions of Kenyans.
The agreement was witnessed by President William Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron as part of ongoing efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation between Kenya and France.
According to Kabogo, the partnership will support the expansion of affordable internet access, enhance innovation and create more digital opportunities for citizens in both urban and rural areas.
“This partnership further strengthens Kenya–France cooperation as we continue building a connected and digitally empowered nation under the Digital Superhighway agenda,” Kabogo said.
The Kenya Digital Transformation and Connectivity Enhancement Project is expected to improve access to digital services in schools, government institutions and underserved communities, while also supporting the growth of the country’s digital economy.
The agreement comes as the government intensifies efforts to position Kenya as a regional technology and innovation hub through investments in broadband connectivity, digital literacy and smart infrastructure.
