Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to strengthening its collaboration with the European Union (EU) on human rights, democracy, and civic space.
Speaking after a meeting with Ambassador Olof Skoog, Head of the EU Delegation, on the sidelines of the 58th UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Mudavadi highlighted key areas of discussion, including peace initiatives and governance.
“Building on our previous talks in Nairobi during the 3rd African Business and Human Rights Forum, we advanced discussions on enhancing EU-Kenya collaboration.

Key topics included strengthening human rights dialogue, safeguarding civic space, and promoting democracy and accountability while ensuring that peace initiatives are supported in a sustainable manner,” he stated.
The meeting underscored Kenya’s role in championing human rights and democratic values, aligning with its broader agenda of fostering stability and good governance.
Kenya and the EU have maintained strong diplomatic and trade relations, with continued engagements aimed at reinforcing shared priorities in governance, economic development, and peacebuilding efforts.
Mudavadi’s participation in the UN Human Rights Council forum further signals Kenya’s commitment to international partnerships that promote human rights and democratic governance.
