The National Police Service and other security agencies have successfully recovered 14 illegal guns in Baringo and Turkana counties. This has resulted from the security operation that is aimed at driving out illegal guns in the region.

According to NPS, the 14 illegal guns, together with 51 rounds of ammunition, were confiscated on Monday.

The illegal guns were believed to be in the possession of criminals who have been responsible for banditry and cattle rustling cases.

The recovery of the illegal guns has been viewed as a relief to the residents who have been experiencing insecurity. This is due to the cases of murder, cattle rustling, among others, which have been reported in the remote areas of the two counties.

According to the National Police Service, the security operation is part of the efforts aimed at reducing the number of illegal guns in the country.

The operation is aimed at reducing the cases of violence, especially in the regions where cases of banditry often take place.
