The government of Kenya has denied any links to the alleged abduction of Uganda’s veteran opposition leader Kizza Besigye.

Besigye was allegedly kidnapped on Saturday, November 16, at an apartment complex on Riverside Drive in Nairobi.

Besigye’s wife, Winnie Byanyima, said after the abduction in Nairobi, he was taken to Uganda, where he is being detained by the military.

However, in a statement on Wednesday, Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’Oei denied the alleged Kenya’s involvement in the supposed abduction.

Sing’Oei said there is no reason whatsoever for Kenya to be a party in Besigye’s alleged arrest.

The PS defended the country’s human rights record as an envy-worthy in the region.
