At the 79th United Nations General Assembly (#UNGA79), Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, held a pivotal meeting with Dr. Kayla Laserson of the U.S. CDC’s Global Health Center.
The strategic talks centered on enhancing health cooperation between Kenya and the U.S., focusing on shared efforts to combat critical public health issues.
Dr. Laserson reaffirmed the U.S. CDC’s ongoing support for Kenya, particularly in research, malaria control, and the fight against HIV.
She also proposed expanding collaborative efforts, especially in Kenya’s response to the emerging Mpox outbreak.
PS Muthoni expressed gratitude for the CDC’s contributions and highlighted the need for further collaboration in addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and fortifying Kenya’s community health systems.
