The Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) has officially announced its intention to leave the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance Coalition.

Party leader Eugene Wamalwa stated that the decision comes as their participation in the opposition coalition has become untenable.

“We can no longer remain in a partnership with those who do not share our values,” Wamalwa declared during the National Delegates Congress in Webuye, Bungoma County.

He pointed out that the ODM, an affiliate party, has joined the government, making collaboration impossible.

Earlier this year, both NARC-K, led by Martha Karua, and PNU, headed by Peter Munya, also expressed their intention to exit the coalition, although the Registrar of Political Parties has yet to approve their departures.

Martha Karua’s NARC-K also severed relations with Azimio coalition.

Tensions have escalated following the appointment of ODM members Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya, John Mbadi, and Opiyo Wandayi to President William Ruto’s cabinet.
