AFC Leopards secured a vital 1-0 victory over Kenya Police FC on Sunday afternoon, ending a five-match winless run in a hard-fought FKF Premier League encounter at Dandora Stadium.
Kennedy Owino emerged scored the only goal of the match in the second half to deliver Leopards’ first win since late September, when they defeated Nairobi City Stars 2-1.
The first half was marred by missed chances and off-field disruptions.
In the 11th minute, crowd trouble forced law enforcement to deploy tear gas in an attempt to disperse fans attempting to enter the stadium illegally.
After the break, both teams made tactical changes, with Leopards coach Fred Ambani bringing on Kelly Madada and Cliff Miheso in the 65th minute.
Leopards’ persistence paid off in the 76th minute when Madada won a free-kick just outside the box.
Ovella Ochieng’s expertly taken strike set up Owino, who capitalised to secure the crucial three points for his side.
