Wadagliz ,a Kenyan rap duo has faced blacklash from their social media followers following their cotroversial performance during the Mashujaa Day celebrations. The duo performed ‘Anguka Nayo’ sparking debate and controversy among Citizens.

The duo was accused of betraying their fans following their performance at a government-sponsored event. A section of Gen Z fans questioned Wadagliz’ affiliation with the political landscape. The duo asserted that their performance was purely a hustle and not an endorsement of any form.

During an interview with Nation africa, Sam Michaka, The rap group’s manager stated,

“We performed during the Mashujaa Day celebrations because the government wanted us to. That does not mean we support the government,” said Michaka.

Michaka insisted that Wadagliz are just focused on producing music,

“Wadagaliz have no problem with anyone, and we will continue doing our job. If people love us, they will love us; those who don’t love us, that’s their problem.”

The duo also clarified the origins of their hit, ”Anguka Nayo”. Michaka insisted that the song was just purely a party jam and didn’t bear any political undertones. He explained,

“It was just released during the political tension period, and people mistook it for a political anthem. Anguka Nayo is purely a party jam, a song we did for vibes and a good time,” 

The rap song has already garnered 7.9 million views on Youtube, three months after its release. The music group is working on a new hit as they aim to continue contributing to the Kenyan music scene.
