Equity Bank’s Othaya Branch in Nyeri County has been temporarily closed following a fire that broke out last night at around 1:30 a.m.
The fire was detected by the branch’s alarm system, prompting a quick response from security personnel, the Nyeri County Fire Department, and local police.
While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be established, firefighters were able to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The swift action by the Nyeri County Fire Department ensured the situation was brought under control, limiting further damage to the property.
In light of the incident, Equity Bank has advised its Othaya Branch customers to use alternative banking channels or visit nearby branches to meet their needs.
“We recommend our Othaya Branch customers to access services at our Kiria-ini, Nyeri, or Mukurweini branches,” the bank said in a statement.
Equity has also reminded customers of its digital services, which include mobile banking, online platforms, and ATMs.
“You can also access your account through *247#, Equitel, the Equity Mobile App, or Equity Cards,” the statement continued.
The bank reassured customers that efforts are underway to resolve the issue and restore operations at the Othaya branch as soon as possible.
