Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has urged political leaders to reject incitement and embrace peaceful leadership, saying unity is essential for the country’s stability and development.
Speaking during an Interdenominational Prayer and Thanksgiving Service at St. John ACK Kwanza Parish in Kwanza Constituency, Trans-Nzoia County, Murkomen said leaders have a responsibility to foster peace, dialogue and national cohesion.
He also called on the Church to continue playing its vital role in guiding the nation towards reconciliation, development and the common good, noting that faith-based institutions remain key partners in promoting moral leadership and social harmony.
The Cabinet Secretary commended churches in Kwanza Constituency for demonstrating unity by bringing together different Christian denominations to worship as one, describing the collaboration as a strong example of the harmony needed across the country.
The service was attended by several national and county leaders, including Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’Oei, Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service Gilbert Masengeli, Trans-Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang, Kiminini MP Kakai Bisau, Endebess MP Robert Pukose, former West Pokot Governor John Lunyangapuo, Trans-Nzoia County Commissioner Hussein Alaso and Members of County Assembly.
Murkomen reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working with religious leaders and communities to strengthen national unity, promote peaceful coexistence and support the country’s development agenda.
