The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has shared plans for a two month partial closure of a section of Thika Superhighway to construct a new pedestrian footbridge at Kihunguro in Ruiru.
In a public notice shared on Monday, October 13, 2025, the Authority mentioned that there would be some disruption on the Nairobi-bound and Thika-bound service lanes as construction engineers do the column bases and stub columns which construct the new footbridge superhighway.
“KeNHA asks all road users to be compliant to the suggested traffic management system and to the police and traffic officers” the statement added.
In this notice, KeNHA mentioned that, “Please be informed that a section of Thika Superhighway (A2) at Kihunguro for the next two months will have traffic disruption on the Nairobi and Thika service lanes from Monday 20, October 2025 to Saturday 20, December 2025.
KeNHA has communicated to motorists that there will be a “KeNHA enforced” traffic management system during the period of construction in order to guarantee safety and limit delays.
