Qatar National Day was held in the Kenyan capital on Monday, with both nations pledging to enhance their bilateral cooperation in the key economic and social sectors.
During the event, Ambassador of Qatar to Kenya, Mohammed Mutair Al-Enazi, said that the two countries are continuously deepening their partnership in different areas which opens the door to more opportunities for mutual progress.
He further explained that Qatar is a major source of employment for Kenyan professionals as well as a good market for exports. Currently, there are over 75,000 Kenyans working in different sectors in the Gulf country.
The event was attended by top government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, political leaders, religious representatives, and common people.
In his remarks, Lee Kinyanjui, Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry and the chief guest praised the partnership saying that both countries are collaborating more and more to raise the number of highly skilled Kenyan laborers in Qatar.
Kinyanjui also emphasized that Kenya and Qatar are looking in the same direction concerning tourism, culture, economic transformation, investment, innovation, and trade diversification, which he said are the areas that will lead to stronger ties in the future.
The other leaders who were there also expressed their commitment to deepening cooperation when Qatar celebrated its National Day anniversary in Nairobi.
