Traders who have set up businesses along the Mtito Andei section of the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway have been given 21 days to move their businesses away from the road reserve. This was communicated in a notice issued by KeNHA on Friday, targeting traders who have set up kiosks and other structures along the road reserve.
The traders are given until March 17, which is 21 days, to move their businesses away from the road reserve as they prepare for road works along that section of the highway, which includes the improvement of service roads and drainage along the A8 near Mtito Andei.
It should be noted that this section of the A8 is part of a larger road that connects Kenya with Mombasa and, by extension, with other countries in the region.
It is worth noting that KeNHA has in recent times been on a crusade to ensure that traders move their businesses away from road reserves along several highways in Kenya. This is in a bid to ensure that roadside stations are set up along these highways, particularly along the Thika Superhighway, which passes through several areas, among them Kihunguro, Allsops, and Delview.
