Former prime minister Raila Odinga wants Kenyans to give his ODM members in President William Ruto’s Cabinet more time to deliver desirable changes in Kenya’s economy.

The former premier expressed confidence in the experts he donated to President Ruto to help him run the country, saying they are capable of revolutionising the economy within their jurisdictions.

For instance, Raila said the next budget estimates under the stewardship of Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi will capture the economic desires of all Kenyans.

“ODM is not in government; ODM just donated experts to the government. Give them time to show you what ODM can do to the government,” said Raila.

Apart from Mbadi, other ODM members in Cabinet include Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho, Cooperatives CS Wycliffe Oparanya and his Energy counterpart Opiyo Wandayi.

Raila was speaking in Mombasa during the 42nd Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) conference, where he challenged the government not to overtax Kenyans, and instead seal corruption loopholes.

“Increasing taxes does not help when there are leaks; we want corruption to be tamed so that Kenyans can get value for their taxes,” Raila added.
