Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has broken her silence after she was booed while speaking at an endometriosis awareness event at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Sunday.
Nyamu claimed comedian Eric Omondi and the event’s master of ceremonies, Antonio, deliberately orchestrated the incident after she took the stage.
The senator said she had initially hoped the event would focus on Natalie Githinji and the fight against endometriosis rather than on the political drama that followed her appearance.
“Yesterday was supposed to be about Natalie and Endo awareness. I wish she was trending today instead of me,” Nyamu said.
She questioned whether the attention generated by the incident had overshadowed the purpose of the event, which brought together artists, celebrities and endometriosis warriors.
Nyamu alleged that Omondi and Antonio instructed people at the back of the venue to chant when she began speaking.
“I believe Eric Omondi planned what happened when I took the stage,” she said, adding that she had noticed the two making several trips to the back of the venue.
She also pointed to Omondi’s introduction before she spoke, saying he told the crowd: “Mimi na yeye hatusikizani kisiasa.”
According to Nyamu, she interpreted the remarks as a cue for what followed.
The senator further linked the incident to a previous disagreement involving comedian Shalkido, who died in 2025.
Nyamu claimed Shalkido had asked her for a motorcycle and that she arranged to get him one. She alleged that the comedian later received another motorcycle from Omondi and appeared on Obinna’s show to thank him while accusing her of playing him and supporting the “Wantam” political camp.
Nyamu did not provide independent evidence to substantiate her claim that Omondi deliberately engineered either incident.
She, however, maintained her support for President William Ruto and dismissed suggestions that she would abandon the government-aligned “Tutam” camp because of public reaction.
“I stand firmly behind President William Ruto because he is the only candidate I see with a clear plan for this country,” she said.
“I won’t join Wantam for a few cheap cheers. Even God is Tutam,” she added.
