Strengthening collaboration among stakeholders in the health products and technologies value chain is critical to improving patient safety, advancing innovation and ensuring access to quality medicines, industry leaders have said.
The Kenya Association of Pharmaceutical Industry (KAPI) hosted a panel discussion on the theme of partnerships for regulatory system strengthening and pharmaceutical supply chain resilience during the 46th Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya Annual Scientific Conference.
The panel session delved into the roles of regulators, manufacturers and other industry stakeholders in engaging with each other to bring about responsible innovation as well as to keep the products health patients receive safe and authentic.
The meeting stressed that through joint efforts regulatory systems could be improved with the end goal of not only facilitating pharmaceutical development locally but also ensuring continued access to safe, effective and high, quality health products.
The panel discussion included KAPI Chairperson Dr. James Oigo Mokoro, Board Members Dr. John Mwangi and Stephen Wanyoke Mirara, and Dr. Janki Chauhan Chairperson Medical and Dental Association of Kenya (MEDAK).
The panel discussion was led by Dr. Stella Kiptanui, Executive Director KAPI who emphasized the need for a united front in tackling the pharmaceutical sector’s challenges.
Stakeholders admitted that a closer collaboration across the health products ecosystem is actually the cornerstone for fostering sustainable growth, achieving better healthcare outcomes and building trust in pharmaceutical supply chains.
