Two suspected drug traffickers have been arrested by the police in Kilifi County and a large quantity of cannabis sativa (bhang) recovered in an intelligence-led operation aimed at destroying the narcotics networks in the region.
The suspects were caught during a raid in the Sakina area, where the police following a tip found a location believed to be an illegal drug distribution point.
The police recovered two half, sacks of cannabis, cannabis seeds, numerous small packages that appeared ready for sale, a digital weighing scale, a hammer, cash believed to be proceeds of the trade, and other items related to the case.
The two suspects are held by the police as the investigations are ongoing and the authorities may take further actions once the inquiries are completed.
The National Police Service promised to deepen the war against the trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances all over the country.
Members of the public have been urged to provide information that can assist security agencies in identifying and dismantling drug trafficking networks to promote safer communities.
