The Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) has announced the public auction of boarded assets scheduled to take place from May 5 to May 14, 2025, across several of its research centers nationwide.

The auctions, to be conducted by M/S Garam Investments Auctioneers and M/S Igare Auctioneers, will feature a variety of items including vehicles, laboratory equipment, office furniture, scrap materials, old tires, used furniture, and batteries.

Each auction event will begin at 10:00 AM, and members of the public are encouraged to inspect the items before placing bids.

Auction Schedule:

  • May 5: KALRO Headquarters – Loresho (Igare Auctioneers)
  • May 6: Veterinary Research Institute – Muguga (Garam Investments) and Food Crops Research Centre – Kabete (Igare Auctioneers)
  • May 7: Industrial Crop Research Centre – Mwea (Igare Auctioneers)
  • May 8: Food Crops Research Centres – Njoro (Garam Investments) and Embu (Igare Auctioneers)
  • May 9: Horticulture Research Centre – Kibos (Garam Investments) and Agriculture Mechanisation Research Institute – Katumani (Igare Auctioneers)
  • May 12: Non-Ruminant Research Institute – Kakamega (Garam Investments) and Arid and Range Lands Research Institute – Kiboko (Igare Auctioneers)
  • May 13: Industrial Crops Research Institute – Mtwapa (Igare Auctioneers)
  • May 14: Horticulture Research Centre – Matuga (Igare Auctioneers)

Bidding Guidelines:

  • Bidders must pay a refundable 10% deposit of the reserve price per lot to obtain a bidding number.
  • All items will be sold on an “As-is-Where-is” basis, and bidding will not go below the set reserve prices.
  • Successful bidders are required to pay 25% of the bid amount immediately after the hammer falls. The remaining 75% must be cleared within 14 days.
  • Purchased items must be collected within 30 days. Items not collected within 14 days will attract storage charges of KSh500 per day and will be forfeited after 30 days.

KALRO has invited interested members of the public, institutions, and businesses to participate, describing the auction as a rare opportunity to acquire various quality assets.
