Kenyan media personality Joyce Gituro has criticized the graduation ceremony of the United States International University-Africa (USIU) after students were denied access to Gate A, which had been reserved exclusively for VIPs.
The decision forced graduates to walk longer distances to enter through other gates, leaving many feeling frustrated at their own celebration.
The incident drew sharp criticism from Joyce, who condemned the university.
“If the graduand is not the VIP, who is? For graduates being forced to walk after being denied access to Gate A which was reserved for VIPs,” Joyce said.
Many agreed with Joyce, arguing that universities should place graduates at the heart of ceremonies rather than external dignitaries.
Some emphasized that students have invested years of effort, money and determination to reach this milestone and deserve to be treated as the true VIPs.
